Come work on our organic farm along the rail trail between Hamilton and Brantford.
Hearts Content Organic Farm is a small organic farm along the Brantford to Dundas rail trail. We specialize in herbs, farmstay and conservation. Our work focuses on herbs, wildcraft and making value added herbal products (salves, lip balms, dried herbs), conservation (restoring wetlands, and planting shelterbelts, mini-forest, and pollinators) and protecting farmland.
We are very dedicated to fostering an inclusive community.

We…
- grow organic crops (e.g. medicinal & edible herbs, pollinators, berries & nuts),
- do wildcrafting – harvesting herbs to dry for sale to an herbal company,
- make value added products such as dried herbs, salves & lip balms,
- host farmstay (camping, glamping, and accessible suites),
- work on conservation projects (restoring wetlands, planting trees),
- work to protect farmland, natural areas, and water,
- promote ecotourism with bird and plant walks, and
- rescue and redistribute organic food, with a focus on migrant farm workers and seniors.
We host cyclists and tours from various not for profits: (Hamilton Farm Crawl, Environment Hamilton, Ontario by Bike and Waterfront Regeneration Trust). We host farmstay and provide meals for cycling tours that come through our farm on the Brantford to Dundas rail trail.
The position involves helping with tree care and conservation on our farm.

It includes
- Care of shelterbelts, tree plantings, forest and wetlands
- Tree care: Pruning, mulching, trimming near trees
- Helping with conservation walks
- Helping to prepare value added herbal products (lip balms, salves, dried herbs) and to market them
- Helping with workshops and outreach related to conservation on farms
Eligibility: Must be between 18 & 30 years old; must be legally allowed to work in Canada (a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee),
- Term: Pay: $22/hour, 35 hours/week for 8 weeks, with possibility of extension.
- Benefits: 4% vacation pay
- Schedule: flexible 7-hour day shift, Monday to Friday, occasional weekend work
- Assets: Spanish speaking, farming experience, comfortable using small tools and equipment, driver’s license, landscaping experience, social media experience

Experience: 1 year of related work, some training/experience working with an arborist
Assets: Spanish speaking, experience with driving a tractor, comfortable using small tools and equipment, driver’s license, experience operating a chain saw, pruning, mulching; social media skills
Ability to commute or relocate before starting work (required).
